Just placed my framed picture of Aaliyah, Tim & Missy in my living room just under a framed picture of New York. When I’ll be in Paris, my appartment will definitly be full of Aaliyah and New York!!!! I’m just planning to order a bigger version of the picture cause this is my favorite of the supafriends team!
I tweeted it to Rashad and he loved it, I’m just so glad we are able to communicate with him on Twitter! We are able to know if him and Diane are doing good and we are able to express them our full love and support! That’s so great! I think Aaliyah would have loved Twitter :)
"40 to 40 #Day8 ‘Are You That Nobody’
My brother Danja Mowf wrote a verse for DJ Reese’s mixtape [50 Tongues 100 Lungs]. 49 MCs rapped over hard core NYC hip hop instrumentals. Being a creative genius, Danja chose to do something different. He rapped over the Aaliyah “Are you that somebody instrumental”. The verse was so dope that he attached it to the beginning of the song to get it on the radio. Skillz heard it before Mowf sent it in and wrote a verse as well. At that time Skillz was signed to Timbaland so everyone thought it was an official remix. That Friday, Mike Street played it on the radio and the phone lines went crazy. That Sunday, I wrote my verse and Danja added me to the song. Our song was playing in Richmond & Norfolk but when DJ Enuff started playing it in New York on HOT 97, I KNEW IT WAS ABOUT TO GET REAL. Clue put it on his mixtape and that’s where Missy Elliot heard it. All three of us were on cloud 9! Missy called Danja at 4am because she was interested in signing him after hearing his verses. Wait wait wait ….Danja only had one verse?? What did she mean verses?? Apparently, Missy thought Danja Mowf was the first and last guy. That’s when I realized that I never said my name in my verse so everyone thought it was just Danja Mowf & Skillz on the song. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy for Danja because he deserved it but I was heart broken because NO ONE KNEW I EXISTED. I am not saying if I said my name it would have been different but I didn’t even put my name out there. I hated not being recognized for something as epic as the Aaliyah remix. Truthfully, I hated myself until the Supafriendz got a chance to perform the song with Aaliyah. I remember stepping on stage to start my verse. When I looked to my left, I noticed Aaliyah was saying my verse with me!!!!
So, I may not have said my name on the track but at least for that moment she knew it was me.

BIG thank you to @djlonnieb for sharing such special moments with us. What a magnificent time that must’ve been ❤️
Aaliyah loved walking on the 5th avenue with Diane and they loved praying at the St Patrick’s cathedral.
During my last travel I went inside and lighted a candle for her. It’d be amazing to know that a lot of her fans go there, I invit all of them who can do it, to go there and light a candle in her memory, when we’re doing something special for her, she feels our love for sure :)

Most of you knew Aaliyah as a powerful dancer, a beautiful singer with an angelic voice and a budding actress. I was fortunate enough to have known her as my dear, kindhearted, sweet-as-pie friend. Since 1995, when I became Aaliyah’s choreographer, she has been…
Happy 43rd birthday Fatima!!!
I remember this touching letter she wrote about Aaliyah after her death, it made me cry, it was really beautiful!
Fatima was supposed to be at the 50th wedding anniversary of her grandparents, but she couldn’t make it because of the Rock The Boat music video shoot. So Aaliyah recorded a video in which she sang Happy anniversary to her grandparents and she said:”I’m sorry I had to steal your granddaughter away from you on this special day, but I needed her, and I hope you have more great years together”.
After she left the Rock The Boat set, Lili walkie talkied to hype Fatima and she said: “Thank you so much for everything, I hope we can do it again soon and I’ll see you when I get back.”
Lili would always spend the night at Fatima’s house and would have to check in with her mom Diane. Fatima called Diane to tell her about the crash before they hear it on the news…
I LOVE FATIMA! AGAIN HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS AMAZING WOMAN AND CHOREOGRAPHER!!!
"The song We Need A Resolution is so powerful. It’s kinda dark and every woman knows that feeling when a relationship ain’t working, or the man is taking liberties and not communicating. That line where the woman falls asleep on the sofa in her best clothes because he hasn’t come home to take her out… that’s a universal feeling."
Those Aaliyah words comfort me right now as I’m living it… When We Need A Resolution came out, I felt in love with that song instantly! That wasn’t the case for everybody and everytime someone told me he didn’t like it, I was saying: “are you crazy?? that song is the futur!!!” but at this point of my life, it touches me personaly, this song really takes another level to me. I thought I couldn’t be more addicted but I was wrong, it’s always in my head and help me to stay strong :)
PS: some beautiful HQ scans of the Jonathan Mannion photoshoot are coming on Aaliyah.pl soon, stay tuned people ;)
awww I’m so in love with her face lol
" I have this photo of Aaliyah framed in the office. I have others from our sessions together but for some reason this one stands out. Could be the "let me eat my Crackerjacks in peace" look she has. Lol. I think this was the night we cut "I Don’t Wanna" (still @pharrell fav song of mine) or "I Miss You". Anyway, Babygirl if you’re checking in with it from time to time, then you know the world still misses you dearly! #whydothegooddieyoung? Via @ATeam826’ | Thanks for the tag @danas_angels. #Aaliyah.
